Q: Previous question: My malti poo is not 9 weeks old. We’ve had him almost two weeks and he still cries and whines 90% of the time. Someone mentioned giving him Benadryl at night to help him get calm. He usually sleeps a lot in the evening and then cries all night. We try to keep him up later but it usually doesn’t work. Is there anything I can do to help him at night so we can finally get some sleep? Yes he is in a crate in the living room. We do cover it with a blanket. We ignore it throughout the night and try to wait till he stops in the morning to get him out but sometimes because of timing situations he is whining when we get him out. Sometimes he cries so hard he throws up and other nights he only cries for a few hours until he tires himself.
A: Sounds like there things you are doing right but there really aren't many secrets. You have to keep him awake longer until he is old enough to learn his crate is okay because you will return later.
