Encouraging food consumption

Q: I have a 8 week old Morkie that is a little over 2 lbs. Since shes been home, I have been feeding her the recommended amount (2 Tbsp of dog food) every 2-4 hours everyday and over night. She seem to be a picky eater or just not hungry. Because of this I have to closely monitor her eating. I supplement by mixing dry food with baby food, Karo syrup, wet food or turkey meat. Other than being picky with food, she seems healthy and playful. At what age or size will she be able to eat a regular 3-4 meals a day without constant monitoring and risk for hypoglycemia? Also, is the picky eating a puppy behavior she will eventually grow out of?
A: For a new puppy and at 2 pounds you should be closely monitoring her intake and supplementing it if necessary during the first 2 weeks. That is when the risks of hypoglycemia are the greatest. Most puppies become much more predictable eaters once the adjust to their new surroundings and routines.
